TIPRA Motha(The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance)

TIPRA Motha, also known as The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA), is a political party in the Indian state of Tripura. The party was founded in 2019 by Pradyot Kishore Manikya Deb Barman, the Maharaja of Tripura, with the goal of promoting the rights and welfare of the indigenous people of Tripura.

The state of Tripura, located in Northeast India, has a significant population of indigenous people, who are often marginalized and face discrimination in various forms. TIPRA was formed to address the issues faced by these communities and to provide them with a political voice.

Since its formation, TIPRA has gained significant support among the indigenous population of Tripura. In the 2021 Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, the party emerged as the single largest party, winning 18 out of 28 seats. This was a major upset for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had won a majority in the previous TTAADC elections.

TIPRA's victory in the TTAADC elections was seen as a reflection of the growing disillusionment among the indigenous people of Tripura with the BJP government's policies. The BJP, which had come to power in the state in 2018, had promised to address the issues faced by the indigenous people, but many felt that the government had failed to deliver on its promises.

TIPRA's manifesto focused on issues such as protection of land rights, preservation of indigenous culture and heritage, and improving the overall welfare of the indigenous communities in Tripura. The party also promised to work towards ensuring greater autonomy for the TTAADC, which is responsible for governing the tribal areas of the state.

Apart from its focus on indigenous issues, TIPRA has also taken a strong stance against communalism and extremism. The party has condemned incidents of communal violence and has emphasized the need for unity and harmony among all communities in Tripura.

TIPRA's success in the TTAADC elections has given the party a significant voice in the governance of Tripura. The party's leaders have stated that they will work towards fulfilling their manifesto promises and ensuring that the issues faced by the indigenous communities are addressed.

In conclusion, TIPRA Motha is a political party that has emerged as a voice for the indigenous people of Tripura. The party's focus on indigenous issues, along with its commitment to unity and harmony, has resonated with many in the state. The party's victory in the TTAADC elections is a sign of the growing political awareness and activism among the indigenous communities in Tripura, and TIPRA's success has the potential to bring about positive change for these communities.
